Ryan chose to work with Bridge House (at Bridge City Community Church) for his project. There were 2 specific safety hazards that he wanted to address.
First, there was a parking lot curb area that was a trip hazard between the wheelchair ramp in the sidewalk & the parking lot. Ryan planned, built, & installed a pipe handrail just behind the curb. It was painted a high-visibility yellow color so that everyone would notice it without running into it.
Second, he wanted to help with the hazard of the stairs down to the basement. The stairs were slippery when wet & it was tough to see the stairs. Ryan's fix for the stairs was to get them painted with a textured, non-skid paint, then the edge of each stair was painted with high-visibility yellow paint as well.
